Tom Campbell Tom Campbell has been dean of the Haas School of Business,since August 2002. Zhao Chen Dr. Zhao Chen is an Associate Professor at the leading economic research center in China – the China Center for Economic Studies (CCES) at Fudan University, Shanghai. He is also the Director of the Fudan Institute of Industrial Development, and the editor of World Economic Papers. His research interests include: the development of innovative capacity of Chinese firms; the theory and practice of science and technology parks in China; industrial economics; Economics of Transition; Information and Incentive Theory; and housing and urban economics. Dr. Zhao Chen is the author of the books – “Market Integration and Industrial Agglomeration in China’s Regional Development”, “Enterprise Restructuring in Transition Economies: Privatization and Deregulation,” as well as scores of articles in leading economics journals, both in China and abroad.
Dr. K. Kasturirangan Dr. K. Kasturirangan has been a Member of Parliament since August 2003. He graduated from Bombay University with Honors in Physics, got his M.Sc in Electronics before going on to receive his doctorate in Astronomy & Astrophysics at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL). He spent many years in positions with the ISRO Satellite Centre in Bangalore from Project Engineer (Spacecraft)-Bhaskara-I leading up to his position as Director of the Center. The prime objective of ISRO is to develop space technology and its application to various national tasks. ISRO has established two major space systems, for communication, television broadcasting and meteorological services, an Indian Remote Sensing Satellites system for resources monitoring and management and developed two satellite launch vehicles, PSLV and GSLV, to place INSAT and IRS satellites in the required orbits. Prior to this he was a Research Associate at the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad. From April 1994 to August 2003 he served as Chairman, Space Commission/Secretary, Department of Space, Government of India, Bangalore.
Thomas M. Kilroy Tom Kilroy is vice president and general manager of Intel Corporation's Digital Enterprise Group. This group is Intel’s largest business group accounting for more than half of the corporation’s revenue. As co-general manager, Kilroy is focused on delivering leading platforms and products to businesses worldwide. These platforms span the full gamut of business needs including servers, business clients, storage, communications and embedded applications. In addition to delivering platforms, DEG designs and develops many of the platform ingredients such as microprocessors, chipsets, motherboards, networking components and software. Previously, Kilroy was vice president of the Sales and Marketing Group (SMG) and co-president of Intel Americas, Inc., where he was responsible for all Sales and Marketing activities in North America and South America. Before that, he was SMG vice president and general manager of the Communications Sales Organization, where he led global sales of Intel's communications products. He also spent five years leading the Reseller Channel Organization, responsible for worldwide sales and channel marketing. Prior to joining Intel, Kilroy held sales and channel management positions with Burroughs Corporation and Wang Laboratories. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Western Illinois University in 1979.
Rishikesha T. Krishnan
Prof. Krishnan obtained the M.Sc. degree in Physics (5-year integrated programme) from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur and the M.S. degree in Engineering-Economic Systems (now Management Science & Engineering) from Stanford University. His doctoral qualification was obtained from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, where his thesis proposal won the outstanding thesis proposal award instituted by the Industrial Finance Corporation of India.
Raymond Leung Spearheading TDK’s business expansion in Greater China, Mr. Raymond Leung is concurrently the Chairman & CEO of TDK Corporation’s key platforms in Asia : TDK China and TDK HK among others. In addition, he chairs several TDK manufacturing companies in the region including TDK Taiwan,TDK Hongkong TDK Xiamen and SAE Magnetics. Mr. Leung was appointed as the first non-Japanese Senior VP and Corporate Officer in TDK Group since the Company was founded in 1935. Mr. Leung has founded several companies, including Amperex Technology Limited (ATL) in 1999, now the world’s 2nd largest lithium polymer battery manufacturer and a key supplier to the world’s top mobile device brands. ATL has been ranked 13th in the list of 2007 Forbes China Top 100 Most Promising Companies. A Chartered Engineer with MSc Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Hong Kong, Mr. Leung is an Honorary Fellow of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and serves on its Industrial Advisory Committee. He is also a Distinguished Fellow of Hong Kong City University and is Chairman of its Industrial Consortium. Valentin Makarov Valentin Makarov, a native of St. Petersburg, Russia, has been President of RUSSOFT Association (formerly “Fort Ross IT Services” since 1999. RUSSOFT Association is the nation- wide association of the most technically competent software developing companies from Russia, Byelorussia and Ukraine. Before taking on this position he served in the City Administration of St.-Petersburg as Deputy Chairman of the Committee of External Relations and as Executive Director of the “Association of Free Economic Zones of St.-Petersburg.” From August 1988 – August 1992 he served on the delegation from the Russian Federation to UNESCO, Paris as Second Secretary. He served on the board of APKIT (Russian Association of IT&Computer Enterprises) and the Steering Committee for the World IT & Services Alliance. On behalf of RUSSOFT and APKIT he signed Cooperation Agreements with leading IT Associations: BITKOM (Germany), Massachusetts Software Council (USA), Israel Association of Electronics and Information Industries, Kansai Information Systems Association (Japan). He was Chairman of the organization committees of numerous IT-related international events in Russia and abroad: (Russian Outsourcing and Software Summit – 2001-2006, Russian CIO Summit (2003-2006), Open Source Forum Russia 2005, Russian-German IT-Forums 2003-2006, Russian IT-Seasons 2002-2006, Software Engineering Conference 2005). He was an active lobbyist for new legislation regulating the IT market in Russia which entailed changes in the Tax Code, creation of the IT-parks network program and contributions to the developing concepts of the Russian IT market.
Alexis Sukharev Founded in 1990, Auriga is one of the oldest and most experienced American-Russian offshore software development firms. Sukharev was one of the first to explore the benefits of IT outsourcing to Russia. A consistent champion of promoting Russia as a reliable strategic partner in offshore IT outsourcing, Sukharev uses all his experience and energy to arrange industry-important events aimed at increasing the Russian IT visibility and recognition. Sukharev played the leading role in arranging the Massachusetts Software Council meeting featuring Mikhail Gorbachev as the keynote speaker. Alexis Sukharev serves on the board of RUSSOFT Association, a nation-wide association of the most technically competent software developing companies in Russia, Byelorussia and Ukraine and the U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce of New England. In 2001, Alexis Sukharev’s book "India: Targeting for the Status of a Global IT Superpower” was published by Moscow State University. The book highlights lessons learned from India’s experience and articulates trends and perspectives of the emerging software development market in Russia. Prior to founding Auriga, Alexis Sukharev, Ph.D., was Professor of Operations Research and Numerical Analysis at Moscow State University for 20 years. Dr. Sukharev has published ten books and numerous articles that have been translated and published internationally.

Dr. Ashok Bardhan Ashok Bardhan is Senior Research Associate at the Fisher Center for Urban Economics, Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley. His work experience has involved stints with the Reserve Bank of India, the Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Bombay, and as a foreign trade consultant. He is a co-author of the book, “Globalization and a High-Tech Economy: California, US and Beyond”. Dr. Bardhan’s recent research includes papers on business process outsourcing; offshoring and job creation; globalization and offshoring of Research & Development; management challenges of globalization of innovative activity; the impact of global capital flows on US interest rates; and the Internet, E-Commerce and real estate. Dr. Bardhan has an MS in Physics and Mathematics from Moscow, Russia, an M.Phil in International Relations from New Delhi, India, and a Ph.D. in Economics from UC Berkeley.
Susanne M. Campbell Susanne Campbell has served as executive director of the UC Berkeley‑St. Petersburg University School of Management Program since 1993, when the partnership to create the business school of St. Petersburg State University began. Campbell studied Russian at Leningrad State University in the 1980’s while engaged in the tourism business for major US tour operators to the USSR. Though the main focus of her work has been connected to Russia, Campbell has organized conferences at UC Berkeley: “Investing in Emerging Markets: China, India, Russia,” (2005)and “R&D in Emerging Markets: China, India, Russia,” (2006) and “Innovation in Emerging Economies: China, India, Russia” (2007) Campbell has a Masters in International Relations from George Washington University and an undergraduate degree from Tulane University and speaks Russian, French and Spanish which she studied abroad.
M. Vidyasagar Chosen for the Control Systems Award for 2008 by IEEE, Dr Mathukumalli Vidyasagar is acknowledged as one of the leading Control Theorists in the world today. He brings the value of his deep engineering research to the world of Information Technology. Dr. M. Vidyasagar is Executive Vice President (Advanced Technology) of Tata Consultancy Services Limited, and is based in Hyderabad. He joined TCS in April 2000. At TCS, Dr Vidyasagar set up the Advanced Technology Centre (now TCS Innovation Labs- Hyderabad) which develops IT solutions in Life Sciences, E-Security, Open source/Indian languages, Smart card technologies, and Quantitative finance. About 15 Ph.D.s and over 75 software engineers work directly under Dr. Vidyasagar and have created several pathbreaking solutions such as: Bio-Suite, a state of the art bioinformatics product to address all aspects of computational biology; Dhruvam, an enterprise Public Key Initiative; and tools in Indian languages. Earlier, as director of the AI and Robotics Lab for the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, Dr. Vidyasagar nurtured initiatives in the areas of aircraft control, robotics, neural networks, and image processing. He also finds time for research in areas of personal which at present include statistical learning theory and its applications to problems in computational biology. Dr Vidyasagar is a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. He has won several awards in recognition of his research, including the “Distinguished Service Citation” from his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin. He was awarded the Fellowship of IEEE at 35, one of the youngest to receive this honor. He is also a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, the Indian National Science Academy, the Third World Academy of Sciences, and the Indian National Academy of Engineering. He has lived and worked in the USA and parts of Europe for 20 years before returning to India in 1989. A prolific writer, he is the author of ten books and over 130 technical papers.
